Nilam Khurana, MD FAAP

Dr. Khurana graduated from the University of Arizona, Honors Suma Cum Laude, and then went on to receive her medical Degree from the U of A College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program in 2003 and then went on to participate in PCH/s Early Access to Care program (EAC) with autism diagnostic training. She holds certification with the American Board of Pediatrics, Certificate of Autism Diagnosis with the Arizona Department of Developmental Disabilities and maintains an active medical license with the State of Arizona Medical Board.

Dr. Khurana is the co-owner of Healing Hearts Pediatrics where she specializes in general pediatric care, autism and dyslexia evaluations, vaccine management, financial planning, and management, and is physician lead. She also continues to be an Early Access to Care board member with Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s developmental pediatrics program and on the Developmental Screening committee with Arizona chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AzAAP). Dr. Khurana is also a clinical preceptor for the University of Arizona Phoenix campus. She is certified to perform numerous assessments in the field of pediatrics and works to improve early recognition of autism, dyslexia, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. She remains active in several research projects in collaboration with the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Khurana formed Pediatric Developmental Connections in March of 2023 in order to bring a better focus on comprehensive developmental assessments for young children, opening services to families across the state of Arizona. Her mission is to reduce the age at which children are identified with autism and other Dyslexia for families to access early care for their child. As a mother of a child with Autism and Dyslexia, she has had first-hand experience of the struggles of navigating the system to get diagnoses, treatments, and successfully providing resources for her child to reach her full potential. PDC’s mission stems from these struggles and successes. Dr. Khurana prides herself on individualized support for each family through both in-person and telemedicine appointments and has over 20 years of experience in treating the pediatric population. Many families with children experiencing difficulties or delays seek her out for her expertise, knowledge, and supportive care. Dr. Khurana keeps close connections within the healthcare community regarding the latest research, assessment, and treatment options for young children. She is a well-known leader in the community and highly respected by her colleagues.
